Youth dies after alleged beating at South Garia drug rehab, family vandalizes centre in protest
On Sunday, armed insurgents attacked a construction site in Jharkhand’s Tandwa area, setting fire to two machines being used for the construction of Bridge No. 103 on the Shivpur-Kathoutia railway line. The machines involved in the incident were a Poclain and a Hydra, both owned by ISC Construction Company. The attack occurred in the early hours of the day in Bukru village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Tandwa police station. Sources stated that the insurgents arrived in a group of six or more, armed with weapons, and deliberately set fire to the machinery.
Upon learning of the attack, workers at the site immediately alerted the police. A police team arrived at the location and worked for several hours to control the flames. While the fire on the Hydra machine was successfully extinguished, the Poclain machine was completely destroyed in the blaze. There were no reports of injuries to the workers, and the site was cleared without further incidents.
At the scene, the insurgents left behind a handwritten poster bearing the name of the People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI), a Maoist insurgent group. The poster contained threats to the contractor and coal traders in the area, warning them to meet the group’s demands or face dire consequences. The local police have since initiated an investigation and are conducting a manhunt for the insurgents involved in the attack. Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the progress of the investigation or any arrests.
